About Karolina Andersson Sundell

Karolina Andersson Sundell is an Associate Professor and senior lecturer in Pharmaceutical Outcomes Research. Karolina has a master in pharmaceutical sciences from Uppsala University and a PhD in medicine from Social Medicine at University of Gothenburg. Her research interests include pharmacoepidemiology and pharmaceutical policy.


Karolina is involved in research projects on adherence to medicine treatment in relation to health outcoems using register data with a particular focus on diabetes patients. She is Principal Investigator for the project Adherence among diabetes patients (Följsamhet hos diabetiker in Swedish) funded by a Junior Researcher grant from FORTE. She is also involved in projects on positive and negative effects of medicine use including adverse drug events and on effects of pharmaceutical policy changes. Karolina has worked with several register-based studies including different types of health data.


Karolina takes part in the research groups Pharmaceutical Outcomes Research and Global Health. She is also chair in the Swedish Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (SLEF). Karolina is responsible for the course in Pharmaceutical Outcomes Research for the Dispensing pharmacist students. She is also member of the program committee for the Dispensing pharmacist educational program.
