About Susanne Fredholm

Senior lecturer in Conservation of Built Environments, at University of Gothenburg (UGOT).

My research focuses on cultural heritage governance and management, heritage professionals´ roles and responsibilities in sustainable planning, limits and possibilities of negotiating urban and landscape resources, and cultural ecosystem services as a core concept bridging culture and nature resource planning. My research is practice-driven and mainly based on science-industry cooperation, and therefore trans- or interdisciplinary designed with mixed methods. In-depth interviews, document analysis and participant observations are core methods. Emphasis lies within critical heritage studies. Connected to the research cluster Curating the City at the Centre for Critical Heritage Studies.

Previous experience as Senior Heritage Planning Consultant.

Teaching areas include Swedish heritage planning regulatory framework, urban planning and landscape assessment methodology, critical perspectives on heritage in the sustainable development agenda, scientific theory and research methods.
