My art is like projects investigating, posing questions and commenting complexity of being. I therefor always do either catalogues or videos for a broad communication.

I am a ceramic installation artist concerned with the position, content and interaction of art in spaces in general, and public spaces in particular. I use art to investigate and consider being in the world. As if art were a tuning fork, I often put what is already in the place (perhaps hidden) into oscillations to create a resonance, a sound base that makes something visible, changes perspective or provides a narrative of its own.
If the architect conducts programs for the architecture, I do it for the art. Starting from research, I seek dialogues with time, place and context to form the basis of my site-specific art. I pose questions about the ceramic installation art based on fine art traditions, architecture and the natural sciences, but seek affiliation with ceramic art found in craft.
As the potter turns a vessel on the wheel and seeks intimate dialogue with the clay and their bodily feelings, I seek the architectural and urban spaces and the sense of bodily movement. Through materiality I crave the intimate bodily narrative that the potter exudes. The potter works with the clay; I too work with the clay, but burned in 50-meter-long rotary ovens fired at 1600 degrees Celsius with same lime found in cement.
Both in my artistic practice and as an adjunct professor of ceramic art with the Master's course at the Academy of Arts and Design, HDK Gothenburg University, I encounter a clash between the traditions of fine art and craft. It is that clash – like a potential thrill field – that I am curious to explore. I consider art as an area of freedom to pose questions, both factual and those related to sensation, perception and emotions. I yearn for art that seeks something human, an art that revolves around curiosity, discussions, different perspectives and communication.
Ceramic art carries millennia of knowledge. The craft offers a unique fondness for detail and form, an intimate aesthetic space that I dream of spreading in far larger spheres than where it acts today. This is a dream that I seek to realize by posing questions across skill and disciplinary groups and is my métier in the world of ceramic art as an artist, teacher and researcher.

I grew up with a father, a material scientist, who from childhood introduced me to the fantastic world of clay and materials seen from a scientific perspective.

Materials have since been the focal point of my journey through various educations, research and practice and in my work in the world of art. The journey has opened my eyes to various theories, methods, practices, content, perspectives and ways of communicating and has shown me the many potentials that can be found in interdisciplinarity, synthesis, learning and borrowing from each other and also understanding the broad contexts related to art.

I hold an MFA from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, The School of Visual Arts, a Ph.D. in Architecture and a Master of Science Engineer – an education that continues to inform my multidisciplinary approach to art.

I have developed new ceramic technology (ceramic glazed concrete), exhibited ceramic installation art nationally and internationally at galleries and museums and more reccently also made commissions and art in public spaces. I have received various funds and been invited for different positions.
