About Helena Carén

Helena Carén is Professor at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Institute of Biomedicine at the University of Gothenburg. She obtained her PhD in 2009 working on the childhood tumour neuroblastoma. Following a postdoctoral stay at University College London between 2010-2012, exploring the concept of differentiation therapy for the brain tumour glioblastoma, she established her own lab at the Sahlgrenska Center for Cancer research in Gothenburg. Her research aims to improve current diagnostic methods and to decipher tumourigenic mechanisms of CNS tumours using patient-derived cell cancer stem cell models.
