Sammanfattning

Cultural heritage is a societal field in transformation. Traditional professions are facing new markets and new skills requirements while also new professions emerge. In theory, cultural heritage is an integrated aspect in decision making and means for sustainability in all branched of society. In practice, the trajectories of professional cultural heritage labour is not visualised or measured but more commonly pushed to the margins of decision-making. For cultural heritage to remain up to date, relevant and effective, it is vital to stay abreast of new political, socio-economic and technological realities, and as necessary adapt to these. Such responsiveness to change requires cultural and educational institutions alike to be able to foresee important trends within cultural heritage sector and the wider trajectory of society and develop appropriate responses. This meeting aims to encourage a dialogue on professionalism in cultural heritage between authorities, educators and employers. The objective is to form a network to continue developing a systemic understanding of the field: from the nature and functioning of its various constituent parts, to how cultural heritage conservation interacts with and contributes to other sectors. The program presents recent research and a state-of-play in national as well as international perspectives, and furthermore provides a venue for dialogue.
