About Johan Nyrenius

Johan (reg. psychologist and specialist in neuropsychology) is a PhD candidate in psychiatry at the Gillberg Neuropsychiatry Centre at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, and chief psychologist at the adult psychiatric clinic of Helsingborg and northwestern Skåne.

Research

Johan’s main area of interest is adults with autism. His thesis will describe adult psychiatric outpatients with autism and sub-threshold autism. The group will be described psychiatrically, socially and cognitively and will also be compared to adult psychiatric outpatients without autism, from the same clinic. The aim is to describe the group’s needs and estimate prevalence of autism in adult outpatient psychiatry.

Education and pedagogical experience

Johan has been a clinical supervisor in different settings. He has been a lecturer for clinical interns and medical students in psychometrics. He supervises theses for psychologists in specialist training.

Clinical work

Johan’s experience is mainly from adult outpatient psychiatry. He also has experience from child and adolescent psychiatry and from child and adolescent habilitation. He presently works part-time with local research and educational issues at his home clinic, and part-time clinically.
