N. Katherine Hayles is one of the leading profiles in digital literary studies, with books on posthumanism, electronic literature and digital culture. Her latest book, Postprint: Books and Becoming Computational, was published by Columbia University Press this spring.

N. Katherine Hayles will present chapters from the forthcoming book Technosymbiosis: Futures of the Human. As with our recent text seminars, there will be no lecture or presentation, but we will discuss the distributed texts the first hour, without our guest, and the second hour Kate Hayles will join us for Q&A and discussion.

The chapters we’ve decided upon are:

  • Chapter 1. Technosymbiosis: A Framework for Our Futures (ca 20 pages)
  • Chapter 6. The Ethics of Robot Subjectivity: McEwan’s Machines Like Me and Ishiguro’s Klara and the Sun (ca 30 pages)
