TiMS – Turismens roll i mångkulturella samhällen
Short description
TiMS övergripande syfte är att utforska turismens roll i mångkulturella samhällen, främst i Sverige men även i andra länder, samt att agera för inkludering och representation av mångfald i turismutvecklings- och platsvarumärkesarbete.
TiMS antar ett tvärvetenskapligt och nyskapande förhållningssätt till turismstudier, som inbegriper marknadsföring, migrationsstudier, design och interaktionsdesign samt begrepp som inkludering och deltagande, integration, migration och multikulturalism.
TiMS förespråkar en bred konceptualisering av hållbarhet som inkluderar sociala, kulturella, ekonomiska, politiska och miljömässiga perspektiv. Fokus ligger på samtliga hållbarhetsperspektiv men social hållbarhet utgör kärnan. Projektet möjliggör verklig samhällsförändring genom aktionsinriktad forskning och samarbete mellan forskning och praktik.

Inclusive tourism means that people, regardless of their ethnicity, nationality, skin colour, gender, class, or other social, physical, and intellectual attributes and abilities, should have the opportunity to experience tourism. They should be able to participate in the development of destinations and tourism products and benefit from them—for example, by benefiting from its revenue and be able to utilize its infrastructure.
