About

The course involves textual analyzes of prophetic texts, as well as
prophetic sections in other genres in the Hebrew Bible, all from the
Masoretic text. You get to deepen your knowledge on central themes and
linguistic characteristics in prophetic texts in the Hebrew Bible, the
life and callings of prophets, male and female prophets, and their
function (s).

The course also includes the study of prophecy as a
phenomenon in the Ancient Near East, as well as an orientation in the
history of interpretation of the prophetic literature with an outlook on
NT, church fathers and Jewish interpretation history. The course
includes reading relevant texts from the Ancient Near East and
commentary literature.

Prerequisites and selection

Entry requirements

Degree of Bachelor or completed courses of at least 180 credits at first cycle level, of which at least 90 credits with progression in some main field of study where it is included a bachelor's thesis of at least 15 credits. Qualified are also those that have equivalent foreign education or that have equivalent prior knowledge according to earlier study regulation.Applicants must prove knowledge of English: English 5/English A or the equivalent level of an internationally recognized test, for example TOEFL, IELTS. 15 HEC in biblical Hebrew is also required.
