About Kristina Hultegård
My primary research interest lies in the story of the child in Swedish courts. This refers to the narrative strategies and techniques that characterize the description of the child in written verdicts and the legal constructions that emerge from it. This interest came gradually emerging and formulated through the years during which I worked as a legal counsel at a law firm, to a large extent representing children in legal proceedings relating to immigration law, criminal law, social law and family law. The experience of representing children in court begets questions about the legal stories sprung from the individual child and the extent to which language corresponds with the real. With tools originating from comparative literature and narratology, the study of narratives, I intend to make visible and examine the narrative content of the court's description of the child and thus contribute to the understanding of the child as a legal construction.
