Om seminariet (på engelska):

The need for, and number of, high-skilled migrants across the Nordic region is increasing. First, we need a stronger understanding of whether and how this group of migrants is unique – in relation to their experiences of work and establishing their lives in new places. Second, we need to assess which theoretical frameworks allow us to best explain their experiences of, and relations to, the new countries they move to. SkillsINCORP has interviewed 79 high-skilled migrants who moved to Denmark after having secured employment. We examine their working lives and the ways their skills and previous professional experiences are valued and drawn on within the companies that employ them. The study has also focused on high-skilled migrants’ lives outside of work – seeking to understand how they decide where to live, how they forge relations of belonging, and their intentions around future mobility. In the presentation, I will share some of our key empirical findings and emerging theoretical innovations.
