The fourth NordJourn seminar will feature two keynotes on the pressing issue of harassment, and hostility towards journalists. The keynotes will present current research on the US and Swedish contexts and discuss journalists experiences and strategies to cope with harassment.
Kaitlin C. Miller is an Assistant Professor in the Journalism and Creative Media Department at the University of Alabama, where she explores research related to hostility toward the press. Her recent work focuses on journalistic well-being. Specifically, her work focuses on the experiences of journalists with harassment and the effects of such experiences. As a former television reporter, she teaches and researches many aspects of journalistic work.
Monica Löfgren Nilsson is an associate professor of journalism, media and communication at University of Gothenborg. She has since 2012 conducted several surveys about the harassment of journalists.
Henrik Örnebring is a professor of media and communication at Karlstad University. His current research is focused on three areas: the history of the Black press in the US; threats to and harassment of journalists; and the restructuring of journalistic labor and changing journalistic working conditions in the face of technological and economic transformation.
