10th Nordic Corporate Governance Network Conference June 13-15, 2018. Keynote topic: “Governance and accountability in governmental and intergovernmental organizations”.

Centre for finance was responsible for arranging the 10th Nordic Corporate Governance Network Conference.
The conference was held June 13-15, 2018 at the School of Business, Economics and Law, Vasagatan 1, Gothenburg University.
Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Corporate governance elements unique to the Nordic region
- Nordic corporate governance in a globalized world
- Laws, regulation and judicial efficiency
- Employees and corporate governance
- Ownership differences and ownership forms
- Institutional investors and shareholder activism
- Accounting and auditing
- Boards, management and managerial incentives
- Political perspectives, taxes, and the influence of the state on Nordic capitalism
- Informal governance and reputational factors
- Sector specific studies, for examples on banks and financial intermediaries
Papers from all Nordic countries are presented at the workshop. Submission of drafts from on-going research was encouraged.
PhD candidates were welcome to submit their work. All papers had a pre-assigned discussant.
Confirmed keynote speakers
Ronald J. Gilson is the author of major casebooks on corporate finance and corporate acquisitions. He has written widely on U.S. and comparative corporate governance and on venture capital and was a reporter of the American Law Institute’s Corporate Governance Project. Professor Gilson is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the European Corporate Governance Institute. He is also an experienced practitioner of corporate and securities law before entering academia, and currently he serves as the independent board chair for the American Century Investments in Mountain View family of mutual funds, managing over $40 billion in assets. In addition to his role at Stanford Law School, he is a Senior Fellow at the Stanford Institute of Economic Policy Research, and the Marc and Eva Stern Professor of Law and Business at Columbia University School of Law.

Inga-Britt Ahlenius is the former Under-Secretary General for the United Nations Office of Internal Oversight Services and has also worked as head of the budget department at the Swedish Ministry of Finance, Auditor General of the Swedish National Audit Office and Auditor General of Kosovo during the UN’s administration. She also worked on the inquiry initiated by the European Parliament into suspected corruption in the European Commission, which resulted in the resignation of the Commission.
