Christer Dahlin has taken over as new president of the Osteology Foundation at the Osteology Board Meeting in Copenhagen. His term started 20 June 2022. He succeeds William V. Giannobile (USA), who will now serve the foundation as honorary board member
With the new president the Osteology Foundation continues to build on its extensive background in science and research, while at the same time strengthening its international outreach. “The primary focus of my presidency will be to increase the global awareness of the programs, grants and educational formats offered by the Osteology Foundation, making us the No. 1 place to go in oral tissue regeneration”, says Dahlin. “On top of that I would like to involve a broader scope of practitioners and specialists from other categories interested in oral tissue regeneration in the activities of the Osteology Foundation”.
Dr Christer Dahlin is a Professor in Oral Surgery and Guided Tissue Regeneration at Department of Biomaterials Science, Institute for Clinical Sciences, The Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. He is also a Senior Consultant in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery with focus on implant treatment at NÄL Medical Centre Hospital, Trollhättan. He is considered one of the pioneers in the development of the concept of Guided Bone Regeneration.
William Giannobile, who led the Osteology Foundation as president through the difficult time of the Covid pandemic, completed his presidency with a light heart and full of positive memories. “I cherish my moments the most in the working with my colleagues on the foundation board. It felt like my 15 years with the board flew by quickly”, says Giannobile. “The interactions with our young people supported by the Osteology Foundation’s scholarships, educational grants and young researcher grants inspired me a great deal. It is rewarding to see our bright future ahead with these engaged women and men, who are our next generation.”
