Adel Daoud, Ph.D. from the Department of Sociology at University of Gothenburg, Sweden, is currently working as a visiting fellow at the WORLD Policy Analysis Center at UCLA. He has previously been, visiting researcher at Faculty of Economics, Cambridge University (2010); The Townsend Centre for International Poverty Research, School for Policy Studies, University of Bristol (2012); Max Planck Institute for the Studies of Societies (2013-2015); the Faculty of Economics, the New School for Social Research. His work current work is mainly being financed by the Swedish Research Council.
His field of interest lies within development studies (poverty, inequality, governance, and global health), economic sociology, global political economy, and the philosophy and methodology of the social sciences. He is currently contributing to three related research projects the first one on Child Poverty and Quality of Government – a Global Analysis, the second on the Impact of the 2008 Financial Crisis on Child Poverty in Developing Countries, and the third, on Theorizing on the Concepts of Scarcity, Abundance and Sufficiency in the Social Sciences.
Methodologically, Daoud has an interest for various quantitative and statistical techniques such as multilevel modelling, Bayesian statistics, social network analysis, spatial modelling, and quantitative text analysis (topic modelling).
He has published in journals like, American Journal of Economy and Sociology, British Journal of Sociology of Education, World Development, and Review of Social Economy. He is also refereeing for journals such as Cambridge Journal for Economics, American Journal of Economics and Sociology, Journal of Institutional Economics, Journal of Economic Psychology, Review of Political Economy, Organization studies, Socio-Economic Review, Max Planck Institute working paper series.
