Test of nursing competency for non-EU graduates
The University of Gothenburg has been commissioned by the National Board of Health and Welfare to be nationally responsible for and carry out knowledge tests for nurses trained outside the EU / EEA. On this page you can read more about the procedure, how to prepare and how to register for a test.
Information for applicants with international qualifications
Licenced nurses who have a nursing education from a country outside the EU / EEA and who have received a decision from Socialstyrelsen ( the National Board of Health and Welfare ) that they are eligible to take the test are welcome to apply to take the test. To get a decision from Socialistyrelsen you need to have your qualifications assessed.

How does the competency test work?
The test consists of two partial tests, one written and one practical, to provide a basis for assessment of both theoretical and practical knowledge. The written test must be approved before you can register for the practical test.
