The University of Gothenburg is one of Sweden's largest educational institutions with extensive offerings in both education and research. The University was founded in 1891 and has more than 58,000 students and 6,800 employees. In our annual report, we present the year in facts and figures.
2024 in facts
During the year, The University of Gothenburg has taken several important steps within all six target areas for 2021–2024. Thanks to a rich and attractive range of courses and programmes, many prestigious research grants and active collaborative work, the University of Gothenburg has made an impact on social development. At the same time, an unsettled global situation has meant a sharper focus on responsible internationalisation, within which the University has been able to contribute knowledge and analysis.
This was the final year of the first strategy period, and the University has carried out a number of initiatives within the six focus areas for 2021–2024. A few notable highlights from our overall initiatives during the past year:
