Prepare arias
For the entrance exams, you will need to prepare a repertoire list consisting of six rehearsed arias from different eras and one romance/lied. Please use the template ‘Repertoire list 2025 Opera candidate (PDF)’ which can be downloaded from this page. One of the arias must be performed dramatically. All arias must be memorised and performed by heart. Bring your completed repertoire list to the first admission test on 18 February.
Admissions Tests
The following applies for applicants to the programme starting in autumn 2025.
Test 1 (18 Feb)
In the first test, you will sing an aria of your own choice from your repertoire list. The jury may also choose an additional aria from the list.
Only students who pass test 1 will be called to test 2 of the admissions test. You will be notified by e-mail in the evening if you pass test 1.
Test 2 (19 Feb)
Only for those applicants selected to advance to test 2
Test 2 begins with a movement test conducted in a group. The test cannot be prepared. Wear clothing suitable for movement. There are changing rooms available. You will then perform the aria from your list that you have prepared dramatically. You can get help with simple props or counterparts for your dramatic aria if you wish.
Only students who pass test 2 will be called to test 3 of the admissions test. You will be notified by e-mail in the evening if you pass test 2.
Test 3 (20 Feb)
Only for those applicants selected to advance to test 3.
The Test 3 day begins with dramatic improvisation in group format. This part cannot be prepared. Please wear clothing appropriate for movement. Changing rooms will be available. As a final step, you will be asked to sing two arias from the repertoire list chosen by the jury, which arias will be announced the day before at the same time as the information on who has been selected to advance to test 3.
