Announcement of the Schumpeter Prize Winner
The scholar/s awarded the Schumpeter Prize will be announced, and the award made, on Monday 10th June, during the ISS2024 Schumpeter Prize dinner.
The International Joseph A. Schumpeter Society awards the Schumpeter Prize, every two years in recognition of a recent and outstanding contribution related to Schumpeter’s work. Please see the call for this year’s competition, as well as the topics and persons awarded the Schumpeter Prize between 1988 and 2022: https://www.issevec.uni-jena.de/schumpeter-prize
The topic for the conference and this year’s prize is “Transformation: Creative Accumulation and Creative Destruction in the Economy”. By tradition, the jury is led by the President Elect of the society– this year Professor Patrick Llerena – and is constituted by a jury of renowned international academics.
Broman Scholarship offered to the Schumpeter Prize Winner
The Broman Foundation at the School of Business, Economics and Law, University of Gothenburg has decided to recognize the outstanding contribution of the main scholar awarded the ISS2024 Schumpeter Prize.
We are very thankful for the support of the Bromanska stiftelsen för forskning och företagande!
The winner of the Schumpeter Prize will be offered the Broman Scholarship and if the scholar agrees to accept it, the Broman Foundation will generously sponsor future research in our topics, affiliated with the Gothenburg U-GOT KIES centre for a year.
The purpose of the Broman Foundation research stipend is to conduct research, with our School as the base and on issues related to private enterprise. The scholar is expected to continue to conduct excellent research and to be regularly involved in activities – such as workshop and PhD course – associated with the Gothenburg U-GOT KIES centre and at the University of Gothenburg during the coming academic year.
The Schumpeter Young Scholar Award
The Schumpeter Young Scholar Award is new for the society!
All 45 young scholars accepted to present in the PhD student events are eligible for consideration. Thanks to the generous contribution by Professor Horst Hanusch, the Society will be able to offer the Schumpeter Young Scholar Award for 5 conferences, starting at ISS2024.
The winner of the Schumpeter Young Scholar Award will be announced, and the award made, on Monday 10th June, during the ISS2024 Schumpeter Prize dinner.
Sponsors and PhD student events
We are also very thankful for the support of the Jan Wallanders and Tom Hedelius stiftelse; Tore Browalds Stiftelse and the Handelshögskolans Partnerskapets Internationaliseringsstöd. Their generous, respective grants enable us to subsidize the cost of all young scholars accepted in the PhD student events, so that they paid only 50% of the normal conference fee.
The ISS2024 PhD student events have been very successful this year. These events consist of two activities: On Sunday 9th June, we look forward to 10 workshops involving 45 PhD students and more than 30 established scholars. Moreover, these PhD students will hang their posters in the Wallenberg venue on Monday 10th June or Tuesday 11th June, with dedicated poster session times during a coffee break.
A special thanks to Ethan Gifford & Marouane Bousfiha, members of the ISS2024 Organizing Committee, who are instrumental in organizing these PhD student events.
