Sweden’s aquatic ecosystems are vital to our environment, economy, and biodiversity. However, they face increasing pressures from pollution, climate change, and human activities. The Skogaryd Research Catchement, located 100 kilometres north of Gothenburg, offers a mix of different ecosystems: drained peatlands, rewetted peatlands, mires, mature and young forests, lakes and streams. This environment allows for a unique platform for cutting-edge research on these ecosystems, offering a wealth of data and state-of-the-art infrastructure. The SRC is also part of the Swedish Infrastructure of Ecosystem Science (SITES), a network of field stations across Sweden that enables field-based research of the highest international standards.
This workshop aims to foster collaboration, share the latest research findings, and discuss how to keep SRC at the forefront of aquatic research.
Preliminary Program
Day 1: Seminars and Discussions (10:00-16:00) at Natrium
Join us for a day of engaging seminars led by David Bastviken from Linköping University, Silke Langenheder from Uppsala University and Marcus Wallin from the Swedish University of Agriculture. These sessions will highlight how researchers are leveraging SRC to address critical issues in aquatic ecosystems. The day will also include a strategic discussion on ensuring the continued relevance and impact of SRC in future research.
Day 2: Site Visit and Data Analysis (optional, approximately 08:30-15:00) at Skogaryd
On the second day, participants who would like to stay for both days will have the option to visit the Skogaryd Research Catchment for a guided tour. This visit offers a rare opportunity to explore the site’s facilities and witness ongoing research projects firsthand. For those who prefer to delve into data, we offer a data-crunching session at the University of Gothenburg, where participants can work directly with SRC’s extensive datasets.
