Meet Cathy Son, a researcher visiting GPCC from Canada
Cathy Son is visiting GPCC and Gothenburg 13-30 June 2023. She is enjoying Gothenburg and hopes to gain valuable insights about person-centred care by collaborating with people from diverse fields of study and exploring various perspectives.
Cathy is a doctoral student at Trinity Western University. After graduating with her BSN from the University of Calgary, Cathy worked as an RN in the medical/surgical unit and pursued an intensive care specialty certification. While working in the intensive care unit, Cathy broadened her clinical experience by working in various healthcare settings, such as Post Anesthetic Care Unit and the neurostimulation clinic. Cathy holds a Master of Science in Nursing and has collaborated with a research team at Vancouver General Hospital to introduce technology use in dementia care. Cathy is a nursing educator dedicated to teaching students in the lab and clinical settings. Currently, Cathy is conducting research on the cross-cultural aspects of person-centred care. She wishes her research to benefit ethnic minority populations, empowering them to improve their experience with illness.
