Om Jokum Lind Jensen

Jokum Lind Jensen is an artist blacksmith and a lecturer at the Metal art department at the university of Gothenburg (HDK-Valand-Campus Steneby).

Originally trained as an artist blacksmith at Hereford collage of Art in the 1990ies, I have been running my own company since the year 2000, specializing primarily in restauration blacksmithing. Since completing my BA and MA at the Metal Art department at the university of Gothenburg 2014 I have mainly focused on various research and development projects.

In collaboration with a number of different architects I have researched new aesthetic possibilities in re-introducing elements of handmade forged work into contemporary architecture.

I have researched 17th century decorative metalwork from a craft perspective in collaboration with the Craft lab (hantverkslaboratoried) A part of the cultural conservation department of the university of Gothenburg.

And for the Sloyd council (Nämnden for Hemslöjdsfrågor) I have researched possible ways of working with 17th century repoussé techniques in a contemporary context.

My personal artistic practice deals with various ways of understanding, investigating and exposing material, materiality technique and historical esthetical idioms in relation to hot forged steel.

Furthermore I still run my private company producing high-end bespoke metalwork for private customers.
