Forskning Min forskning handlar om vätsketeori, statistisk mekanik och teoretisk yt- och kolloidvetenskap. Jag är särskilt intresserad av inhomogena vätskor nära och mellan ytor, intermolekylär växelverkan i vätskor och lösningar, ytkrafter, skärmningsfenomen i elektrolytlösningar, elektriska dubbelskiktssystem och kolloider.

Meriter Roland Kjellander blev civilingenjör i Biokemisk teknologi 1971 vid Kungl. Tekniska högskolan, där han också disputerade i Fysikalisk kemi 1975 och blev docent i samma ämne 1978. Han tillbringade ett år som Research Fellow vid Biophysical Laboratory, Harvard Medical School och Visiting Scientist vid Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mellan 1982 - 1984 var han Visiting Fellow vid Dept. of Applied Mathematics, Australian National University och 1985 - 1989 var han Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow vid samma institution. Han fick en särskild forskartjänst från Naturvetenskapliga forskningsrådet 1989 placerad vid Göteborgs Universitet och blev biträdande professor där 1998. Sedan 1999 är han professor i Fysikalisk kemi vid Göteborgs universitet, från 2013 som professor emeritus.
