West Pride

West Pride is an arts and culture festival that creates safe spaces for LGBTQI individuals and highlights issues of norm criticism and the life situations of LGBTQI people. The festival is free for visitors and primarily targets LGBTQI individuals in Gothenburg and Västra Götaland, while also appealing to a broader national and international audience.

The university of Gothenburg is a proud partner of West Pride and participates every year by, among other things, raising rainbow flags on university buildings and organizing seminars and other events as part of the festival.

West Pride will take place from June 9-15, 2025, and the program will be presented here as the event approaches.

We view Frihamnsdagarna as an important democratic meeting place and a great opportunity to collaborate and communicate the university's research to a broad audience. The event also serves as a networking platform for academia, industry, the city, and community organizations.

Frihamnsdagarna 2025

Frihamnsdagarna will take place August 29–31. Information about the university's participation will be presented in the spring.

Book fair Gothenburg

Alongside around 3,000 authors, researchers, comic book artists, politicians, journalists, and cultural figures, the university of Gothenburg participates in debates and discussions at the Gothenburg Book Fair.

At the 2025 Book Fair, you can meet us on the exhibition floor for short conversations at the University of Gothenburg's booth, which we run in collaboration with Folkuniversitetet. You can also attend in-depth discussions at Yttrandefrihetsscenen, where we, through Jonsereds Herrgård, partner with the Book Fair, the City of Gothenburg's Department of Cultural Affairs, Hanaholmen – the cultural centre for Sweden and Finland, ICORN, The Swedish Academy, Voksenåsen – the cultural centre for Swedish-Norwegian collaboration and WIN WIN Gothenburg Sustainability Award.

In addition, the university will take part in several program items, both within the seminar program (which requires a seminar pass) and on other stages.

The majority of the university's program items at the Book Fair are in Swedish, but there are a few program items in English.
