Niklas Åkerman is an assistant professor in business administration at the Centre for International Business Studies (CIBS), School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg.
He holds a PhD in business administration from Linnaeus University where he defended his doctoral thesis, “Learning strategies for international growth – on knowledge acquisition and opportunity realization”, in 2016. Prior to that he also holds a BSc in Marketing and a MSc in International Marketing.
His research takes off from internationalization-process literature and puts particular attention to the learning and knowledge aspects of the internationalizing firm. A multitude of sources for new knowledge in distant markets has been of particular interest. This research has, over time, been increasingly integrated with international entrepreneurship research and his work within that intersection of research streams is continuing.
His research has been published in Journal of International Entrepreneurship, European Management Journal and Baltic Journal of Management.
