About Simon Larsson

Simon Larsson holds a doctoral degree in social anthropology and is currently working at Gothenburg Research Institute (GRI), at the School of Business Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg. His research has a broad empirical focus but relates to a theoretical interest in governance and power in historical and contemporary societies. He is currently working in a project on Swedish missionaries as rule of law actors in colonial Congo 1881-1961, a project on responsibility in cyber security discourse, a project on how large carnivores effect hunters and farmers in the Swedish countryside. His research is published in international peer reviewed journals. In addition to his scientific publications, he has published popular science articles about his research in the leading Swedish magazines and newspapers. He has experience in utilizing several methods for data collection and interpretation, including both participant observations, interviews, archival studies, and questionaries analyzed through statistical methods. He is also supervising theses at PhD, master, and bachelor level. He give lectures in anthropological theory at the Department of Historical Studies at the University of Gothenburg.
