Eelgrass meadows are important habitats but threatened by e.g. heavy boat traffic, jetties and eutrophication. Several restauration projects are ongoing. Information on the genetic diversity might help identify appropriate individuals for transplanting.

Research in CeMEB contributes to our understanding of how human activities affect marine coastal ecosystems and their functions over time. Results are communicated to the society, and we collaborate with public authorities to develop tools for a sustainable management.
