Contemporary Sociological Analyses and Horizons!

About

This course celebrates the contemporary breadth and diversity of sociological research. Emerging and established analytical perspectives from fields such as environmental sociology and welfare sociology are presented and discussed. Students are also given the opportunity to explore different current research directions in sociology in project form heightening their appreciation of the types of research questions motivating conventional and applied social research today. This is a core course in sociology at the postgraduate level and the introductory course on the Master Programme in Sociology. It can also be followed as an optional course by both domestic and international students.

Prerequisites and selection

Entry requirements

Bachelor degree in social science or other related subjects is required, or at least 60 credits in sociology, including at least 30 credits from first cycle in-debt courses or equivalent. Applicants must prove their knowledge of English: English 6/English B from Swedish Upper Secondary School or the equivalent level of an internationally recognized test, for example TOEFL, IELTS.

Applicants are listed according to the amount of credits in sociology from the first cycle.

Facilities

Teaching takes place in the premises of the Faculty of Social Sciences in the Haga district in central Gothenburg. Lectures and seminars within "Campus Haga" are held in the buildings Dragonen and Sappören (Sprängkullsgatan) as well as Husaren (Husargatan).
