Assessment of qualifications for applying.
Selection
In the assessment, all applicants will be given a merit rating, based on the following::
- CV (maximum 2 pages) that gives an overview of your academic merits, and your experiences of organizational and/or professional life, and if applicable any work certificates related to the merits
- Statement of intent (the template is available below)
Submit the CV and Statement of intent to universityadmissions.se no later than February 2 (if you apply in the first admission round October 16 - January 15) or May 4 (if you apply in the second admission round March 15 - April 15). Please note that the exact date may vary, see universityadmissions.se. The CV and Statement of intent should be in English.
The assessment is carried out by faculty members at the Department. Based on the assessment, eligible applicants will receive a merit score and will be ranked accordingly. Applicants with 60 credits or more in European Studies will receive a higher merit score.
Statement of intent
Please use the template, Statement of intent, which is available below. The template is fixed and the space is limited. The statement of intent should address the questions below, and be well structured and written, in clear and concise language.
- What specifically in the programme structure and content attracted your interest and why?
- How have your past experiences (both academic and non-academic) shaped your interest in the issues dealt with in the programme?
- How have these experiences prepared you for the programme?
- Since students’ individual writing and advanced analysis are cornerstones within the programme, which are your practical experiences from individual writing and analysis by the help of social science methodologies?
When it comes to the evaluation of the CV and Statements of intent, the applicant's academic merits (e.g., courses and combinations of courses from previous education), relevant work experience, and other merits (e.g., internships, exchanges, association activities, participation in conferences and student activities in international and European organizations) and language skills are considered.
All submitted texts must be written by the applicant and not by anyone else or generated by AI. It is permitted to use AI to check spelling and grammar.
