Introduction to programming
About
This course will give an introduction to programming suitable for students who have not programmed before. It offers an introduction to computer science aspects like algorithms, data structures and programming paradigms.
The course also introduces the programming environment and basic concepts, theories and technologies used in the master's programme in language technology.
Entry requirements
Students with an undergraduate degree (at least three year full-time study) in:
- language technology, computational linguistics or computer science,
- linguistics (with at least 30 credits, corresponding to half a year full-time study, in formal linguistics or programming),
- adjacent subjects, e.g. cognitive science, languages, philosophy or mathematics (provided that the student can show a background in either programming or formal linguistics corresponding to 30 credits, that is half a year full-time study), or
- certificate from their department assessing that they fulfill equivalent qualifications.
To provide the requirement in English by an internationally recognized test, for example TOEFL, IELTS, the English proficiency should be equivalent to the level of English 5/English Course A from Swedish Upper Secondary School.
