Frida Boräng disputerade 2013 och är för närvarande docent och biträdande lektor vid Statsvetenskapliga institutionen samt forskare vid the Quality of Government Institute (QoG).
Borängs forskning handlar bland annat om invandringspolitik i jämförande och historiskt perspektiv, invandrares politiska integration, intressegrupper och lobbyism, samt statskapacitet och kollektiva nyttigheter.
Boräng är för närvarande forskningsledare för projektet Integration med förhinder? Hur etniska grannskap och främlingsfientlighet i det omgivande samhället påverkar invandrares politiska integration (finansierat av Vetenskapsrådet). Hon arbetar även i projektet Idéernas makt: Nya perspektiv på staters kapacitet och tillhandahållandet av kollektiva nyttigheter i unga demokratier. Tidigare nyligen avslutade projekt inkluderar Institutionella utmaningar och strategier för hållbara utvecklingsprojekt samt Migrationspolitiken och välfärdsstaten i historiskt och komparativt perspektiv (båda finansierade av Vetenskapsrådet).
Boräng är författare till boken National Institutions – International Migration: Labour Markets, Welfare States and Immigration Policy (ECPR Press/Rowman & Littlefield International); artiklar i bland annat British Journal of Political Science, Governance, Journal of European Public Policy, och European Journal of Political Research; samt bokkapitel publicerade av bland annat Oxford University Press och Edward Elgar Publishing.
