About Tina Glenvik
I am a lecturer in Music Dramatic Performance at the Academy of Music and Drama, University of Gothenburg. I am the program director and one of the main teachers in the Individual Musician Program. In addition to this, I teach music drama, stage/musical communication, artistic and stage performance..
I hold a degree in music education from the University of Gothenburg with majors in singing and music drama (2000). I studied the acting program at HB Studio in New York 2002-2004 and have an artistic master's degree in music dramatic performance from the Academy of Music and Drama, University of Gothenburg 2016.
I have freelanced as a concert singer since the mid-90s, performing in Sweden, New York, and northern Europe. I create concert programs with a diverse repertoire, often collaborating with Marcus Löfdahl on accordion. Our latest production Piaf, Piazzolla – Passions! is based on music performed and composed by Piaf and Piazzolla. We premiered at Gothenburg City Theater in the fall of 2023 and will be touring with the production throughout 2024 and beyond.
As a music dramatic singer, I am part of the (current inactive) music theater company My Dear Quartet, which creats and performs chamber operas with a lot of humor. I have written/composed and performed shows for children and youth with touring activities. During my four years in New York, I created several staged concerts and cabarets and sang with the Scandinavian Chamber Orchestra. I have executed several spectacular performances with Gunilla Gårdfeldt, Professor Emerita, as a director; notable events include the 150th anniversary of Gothenburg City Museum, the 90th anniversary of the Maritime Museum, at the Science Festival, and Gothenburg Opera’s Millennium Celebration.
In addition to the music dramatic productions I direct in my employment at the Academy of Music and Drama I have directed Gothenburg Opera’s International Choir, now known as the SKAPA Choir, several times since its inception in 2014, including collaborations with the Greek National Opera 2018-2019. I directed their participation at River of Lights at the Museum of World Cutlure in 2019. The last performance was fall of 2023 at Gothenburg Opera.
I directed the world premiere of the musical Musikalen om Frigga at Stora Teatern (2022), which depicted the suffrage movement in Sweden in the early 1900s. In Septemberteatern’s upcoming production, I play the (small, but sweet) title role, Fru Lojal, about women in readiness during World War II. She also serves as the assistant director. The premiere is at Stora Teatern in March 2025. https://septemberteatern.com/om-fru-lojal/
I am a recurring substitute vocalist in the Gothenburg Symphony’s Vocal Ensemble and has been. A soprano in the Vocal Art Ensemble since the fall of 2019 https://www.vocalartensemble.com.
I have held freelance educational assignments in theatrical/musical communication with various organizations, including Gothenburg Wind Orchestra, Vänersborg Music Academy, Nordic Folk High School, and various cultural schools. I was the speaker coach for TEDx Gothenburg in 2019.

My educational and artistic philosophy is grounded in a socio-cultural perspective on learning, an interest in democratic and group dynamic processes, and the individual's right to have a voice and be heard.
In my spare time, I am renovating our 1950’s house in Björkekärr while listening to documentaries or books and serving as a soccer mom/driver.
