About Barbro Olsson
Barbro Olsson has been a teacher of Alexander Technique since 1988 and assistant professor in musical design at the University of Theater and Music since 2018. She teaches Alexander Technique and Practical Ergonomics in the bachelor's programs for classical music, world music (contemporary traditional music) and improvisation. As well as for master's programs in classical music. The students get to meet Barbro during a number of joint group workshops as well as some individual lessons. During both workshops and individual lessons, students can bring their instruments with them so that the Alexander Technique and ergonomics are applied to both the use of their own body and the interaction with the instrument. Alexander Technique is also an important tool for developing mindfulness, body awareness and stage presence as well as for managing stress and performance anxiety.
Since 2012, Barbro has been a guest teacher at Hsm and has given lectures and workshops for singing and music students.
Barbro did his Alexander teacher training (three-year full-time training) 1985 -1988 at ATTC (Alexander Technique Training Centre) in Totnes, England. Since 1988, Barbro has had her own company where she teaches Alexander Technique to private individuals, companies and institutions through lectures, workshops and individual lessons. Barbro has, among other things, held courses for the actors at Folkteatern and Backateatern, the opera singers and the choir at Gothenburg Opera. Some of Barbro's private students are musicians from the Gothenburg Symphony and the Gothenburg Opera.
