About Anna-Carin Robertz

Anna-Carin Robertz is a doctoral student at the Institute of Health and Care Sciences, Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, and a specialist psychiatric nurse. She is an externally positioned doctoral student, with 50% of her time dedicated to research and 50% to clinical work at the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Clinic within NU- Hospital Group.

Her doctoral project aims to evaluate the effects of tactile massage as a complementary treatment for adolescents aged 15–17 diagnosed with ADHD. Her extensive experience in child and adolescent psychiatry has been characterised by a strong commitment to the health of children and young people, particularly their mental well-being and opportunities for a good start in life. Using a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, the project explores how tactile massage influences ADHD symptoms, functioning, stress, pain sensitivity, sleep, and subjective well-being. Additionally, it examines the experiences of adolescents and their guardians regarding the treatment, as well as nurses’ experiences of working with tactile massage in child and adolescent psychiatry. By integrating these different perspectives, the project aims to provide both scientific and clinical insights into tactile massage as a potential alternative treatment.
