Senior Lecturer
The Film, Photography and Literary Composition UnitAbout Anna Strand
Anna Strand works as program director and teacher at the international master's program in photography.
In Strand’s practice photography, text and found material is combined. In recent years, her works has been presented in exhibitions and artist books. All works are based on diverse archives or collections, but often of a private and at first glance inconspicuous kind. These collections serve as a basis for formulating counter-images and illuminating alternative narratives. By re-constructing or constructing archives and collections, Strand aims to visualize, underscore, and transform perspectives.
Her latest book, The Assignment, was published in 2023 by Sailor Press, which has published three previous books. For the first one, Nagoya Notebook, Strand received the Swedish Photobook Prize in 2014 and with Archived under T she was one of the winners of Svensk Bokkonst 2020. In recent years Strand has exhibited at Västerås Art Museum, Galleri Ping Pong in Malmö and Galleri Cora Hillebrand in Gothenburg.
