Background Denis Frank is Associate Professor of Sociology. He received his doctoral degree at Växjö University.
Specialist Fields Franks research interests are international migration, labour markets and political sociology. He has examined how the Swedish state and employers shaped migration to Sweden during the 1960s and 1970s. He has examined the migration from Eastern Europe to Sweden since the 1990s, and how trade unions have responded to this migration. He has, furthermore, made a comparative analysis of the Swedish immigration policy that was implemented in 2008
Current research Frank is leading the research project ”Globalization of migration to Sweden: The Labour Migration from India and China 2008-2014” The research project is financed by Riksbankens Jubileumsfond.
"Migration and Polarisation – patterns, mechanisms and experiences". Part of Fortes research programme "The Challenges of Polarization on Swedish Labour Market"
Teaching and tutoring Frank teaches mainly about the philosophy of science, qualitative methods and social stratification.
