MD and PhD student in the research group Eye surgery – basic research, epidemiology and clinical trials, with professor and chief physician/surgeon Madeleine Zetterberg as main supervisor, and Anne Petersen, Malin Hernebring and Julia Adelöf as co-supervisors. The PhD projects are conducted in collaboration with University of Gothenburg, Sahlgrenska University Hospital and AstraZeneca.
The PhD thesis aims to study proteolysis (proteindegradation) and proteinaggregation in retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells during oxidative stress in age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The research consists of primarily basic science, but also includes clinical research projects.
