Current research Hannes’ doctoral thesis is being developed within the framework of an EU-project currently underway. The project serves the overall purpose of developing monitoring technologies to be deployed in not-yet (but soon-to-be) constructed deep geological facilities housing nuclear waste. The project involves several countries such as Sweden, Belgium, Finland and France, but also a range of actors; technical expertise, authorities, nuclear waste management organizations, citizens and social scientists are some examples of the participating actors. The nuclear waste management issue is coupled with several areas that Hannes’ PhD studies will concern. Technologies’ and societies’ interdependence, questions of expertise, public participation and democracy are some examples of the topics at hand.
