About Kassahun Weldemariam

Kassahun Weldemariam is a senior lecturer at the department of Pedagogical, Curricular and Professional Studies, Faculty of Education, University of Gothenburg in Sweden. He holds a PhD in Educational Practice from the University of Gothenburg with a focus on early years education. He also holds an international master's degree in Early Childhood Education and Care from Oslo Metropolitan University in Norway; and another MA degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language(TEFL) from Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia. Kassahun has previously worked as a lecturer and teacher trainer at Dilla University in Ethiopia, and as a preschool pedagogical leader in Stockholm Sweden. His main research interest falls under the umbrella subject of Education for Sustainable Development-ranging from preschool to higher education. He has published a number of peer reviewed articles and book chapters on various topics such as sustainability, early literacy and numeracy, bilingualism, biliteracy, professionalism, play, curriculum, teacher training. His doctoral dissertation analyses the anthropocentric characteristics of environmental sustainability research in early childhood education and explores post-anthropocentric possibilities for change in addressing the related global environmental predicament.
