Associate Professor in subject didactics with specialisations (University of Gothenburg) and PhD in subject didactics with specialisations (University of Gothenburg).
Research interests:
My primary research interest is in critical thinking in civics and other social studies subjects. I also engage in research on conceptual understanding and conceptualisation in these subjects. Theoretically, I usually start from a phenomenographic and variation theory perspective. Recently, I have been involved in two research projects funded by the Swedish Institute for Educational Research. One project has dealt with teaching that can strengthen students' critical thinking in civics. The other is about teaching that can develop pupils' conceptual understanding in civics.
Teaching and collaboration:
My main teaching concerns civics didactics and subject didactics in other domains of social studies. I am currently supervising two doctoral students. I am also (since 2015) project manager for a major collaborative project on behalf of the Swedish National Agency for Education.
