About Linus Hermansson
I am a deacon in the Church of Sweden and have a master’s degree in Human Rights studies. I have a background in different roles in civil society organizations where my main fields of work have been children’s rights, migrant rights and undocumented migrant rights, and supporting people regarding economic and social rights. I am also participating in a current campaign regarding the right to food and food poverty in Gothenburg.
Since 2023 I am a doctoral student at the Department of Social Work. My research interests are human rights, social work in civil societies, and similarities in the social struggles of different movements. I am interested in how human rights appear in the everyday lives of people in marginalized life situations and how legal mobilization, in a broad meaning, is used by social workers in civil societies to support people in their contact with public authorities. My research project has the working title: Civil society social workers negotiating social rights – legal mobilization for people in marginalized situations.
I teach at the social work educational program and lecture in different contexts.
