About Lotta Kvist

Designer and senior lecturer at the Academy of Art and Design, Faculty of Fine Arts, at the University of Gothenburg.

I am educated via a BFA in Product Design at HDK (2002) and via the transdisciplinary education of the MFA in Design at HDK (2004). Currently, I am working at all levels; bachelor, master and freestanding courses.

I have an holistic approach to life which means I believe in lifelong learning and I am driven by an interest of constant development. This approach, I practice, both personally and professionally. In my role as a teacher, I employ this approach and experience to guide and challenge those I meet within our pedagogical meetings. It is my utmost ambition to enhance and deepen the skills but, also, I aim to assist in building up the confidence needed to reach each individual’s goals. Sometimes this means, I am an active listener which can entail that I listen beyond what is said and point to the potential links between the project and the intention of the designer.

Outside of the university, I arrange workshops and retreats and I am also a practising reiki master and these forms of practices are undoubtedly intertwined with the work I do within the university.

One example of this intertwinement is the assignment tasked by the Faculty of the Arts on the topic of student health and environment. This assignment works with the question of how to take care of the journey from the prospective student through to the graduated student. It includes planning yearly activities around health-related questions and to give insights into how discrimination and abusive discrimination-issues are handled within the faculty.
