I am working on reproduction dynamics in marine intertidal organisms. My main focus is how sperm competition drives fertilisation success and sperm motility. I focus on the marine snail genus Littorina which shows heteromorph sperm, where the function of the non-fertilising parasperm is unknown and likely connected to sperm competition. Additionally, I do fertilisation experiments with sea urchins and brown algae to unravel their underlying fertilisation dynamics. I am also involved in two outreach projects, one focussing on investigating the shell color of a snail species, Littorina saxatilis. The other project focuses on barriers between researchers and society regarding climate change perception and how to identify communication strategies to overcome this barrier.
