Margareta Wallin Peterson has long experience of management from University of Gothenburg.
She was pro-vice chancellor for collaboration and innovation at University of Gothenburg 2004 – 2012), thereafter vice vice chancellor to the end of 2015. She continued her work for the University as senior advicor to the vice chancellor and was project leader for Vision2020-Medical Hill to the end of 2016.
Margareta has had several internal steering group appointments and been chairman for the Holding Company at University of Gothenburg for 11 years. She was vice chairman for the committé for Identity and Image 2002 – 2008). She has led the work with several strategic plans for the University of Gothenburg.
Margareta has also had several external positions both nationally and internationally e.g. member of the bards of Aarhus University in Denmark, Jönköping University and Universeum AB.
She has been vice head of the department of Zoology, and both vice- and pro-dean of the Faculty of Science at University of Gothenburg. Margareta has a broad experience of management of education; she was responsible for education at the Faculty of Science, director of studies at the department of Zoology, involved in several pedagogical projects and was awarded University of Gothenburg´s first pedagogical team-prize in 1996. She has worked with training of teachers in biotechnology for more than 25 years and is co-found and chief editor for the web-journal Bioscience Explained for teachers in biology and biotechnology.
Her research area has been zoological cell- and molecular biology with special emphasis on the cytoskeleton, and the evolutionary and functional role of skin colour of especially fish and frogs.
In 2018 she published a book for academic leaders together with professor Kerstin Norén. The book Akademisk chef – hur fungerar det? is written in Swedish.
