About Maria Marinopoulou
Maria Marinopoulou is a PhD candidate at Gillberg Neuropsychiatry Centre, Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology. Maria is lic. psychologist and specialist in clinical psychology/ neuropsychology and works as a specialist psychologist at the Child and Adolescent Habilitation Center in Region Värmland.
Research
In her thesis work, Maria examines neuropsychological functions in a cohort of children from the general population. Professor Eva Billstedt is Maria's main supervisor.
Maria's research interests include cognition, developmental disabilities, psychological assessment and the relationship between cognition and signs of developmental conditions in childhood.
Clinical work
Maria has many years of experience working with children and adolescents with neuropsychiatric and/or motor disabilities and their families. In addition to child and adolescent habilitation, Maria has worked at the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Clinic and at the Neuropsychiatric Clinic for adults in Region Värmland.
Teaching
Maria has held several lectures on neurodevelopmental disorders, mental health and other psychology topics. Maria is supervisor of specialist theses for psychologists undergoing specialist training. She has teaching assignments at the psychology program at Karlstad University and has, among other things, taught psychological assessment of children and adolescents.
