I am a PhD student in religious studies with a focus on the study of Islam at the Department of Literature, History of Ideas and Religion. The project started in the autumn of 2023 and seeks to study how Muslims in Sweden and Belgium interpret and relate to Islamic family law, for example rules about marriage, divorce and inheritance. The project is supervised by Professor Göran Larsson (University of Gothenburg) and Professor Jenny Berglund (University of Stockholm).
I have previously worked for, among others, the Swedish Migration Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Swedish Civil Contingency Agency (MSB), both in Sweden and in several countries in the Middle East.
As a doctoral student, I am a member of a national graduate school in Islamic studies, which is funded by the Swedish Research Council and coordinated by Linnaeus University. More information on the graduate school in Islamic studies can be found here.
