About Maria Eugenia Bernal Gomez
My work is mainly focused on conservation and restoration of seagrass ecosystems. I am particularly interested in effective tools and strategies to enhance seagrass resilience to climate change. In my PhD, I am exploring how genetic tools can be used to incorporate adaptive potential into restoration and conservation programs aiming to increase the capacity of Zostera marina (“eelgrass”) meadows to cope with environmental change. I am also interested in flowering and sexual reproduction in marine plants, so please reach out if you have any ideas!
