”Teaching of movement practices in the Swedish school subject Physical Edcuation and Health: a qualitative study on the communicative interactions between teachers and students”
The purpose of the project is to study and describe teachers’ didactic communications with students while teaching movement practice, how it influences the education, and what factors affect this type of communication.
From a perspective of symbolic interactionism, communication is seen as an exchange of social objects (symbols), in which the creation and assignment of meaning become the interactive structure for understanding between individuals and the world around them.
The research is conducted through a multimodal methodology, where the recording of video and audio from lessons are central data generating points. Video-stimulated recall interviews contribute to teacher’s subjective reflections of their actions and decisions.
The aim of the research project is to develop understandings regarding the didactic communicative aspects of education contexts, how these affect students’ learning possibilites and teachers’ professional practices.
