I am a medical doctor with professional experience primarily in primary care, on my way to becoming a specialist in social medicine. I defended my thesis in 2021: Physicians' practices in sickness certification for common mental disorders – assessment of work capacity and communication with the patient's workplace. My doctoral project was part of the research program New Ways - mental health at work which aimed to extend the knowledge about how to identify, treat and support people with depression and anxiety disorders to maintain their ability to work and reduce the need for sick leave. My main interest is the physician's role in sickness certification, but my research includes other actors' perspectives as well. In ongoing studies we explore associations between patients' individual characteristics and length of sick leave as well as organizational preconditions for managers' support to employees with common mental disorders. I teach insurance medicine at the Medical Programme and was previously assistant course leader for courses in coordination of sick leave in healthcare.
