Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive CareAbout Sophie Lindgren
Clinically active anaesthesiologist since 1999 and senior consultant in anaesthesia and intensive care since March 2013. Head physician at OP 4 Sahlgrenska University Hospital SU/S 2011-2014. In 2007, doctoral thesis was defended, which focused on the effects of lung collapse in mechanically ventilated patients during cleansing of airways, endotracheal suctioning.
Continued research focusing on lung mechanics and lung physiology and effects of mechanical ventilation in intensive care treatment and anesthesia for operative procedures. Since 2008 also active in the field of prevention of complications related to the insertion and use of central venous access devices, in patients in intensive care and in surgical departments.
Group teacher and lecturer at the Medical Educational Programme, Surgery module T8, 2010-2016 and Senior Lecturer /Associated professor at the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care March 2014 through January 2016. Also involved in continuing education of anaesthesia and intensive care residents and specialists as well as in the training of nurses, assisting nurses, physiotherapists and veterinarians.
Associate professor in the field of anesthesia and intensive care since June 2016. Head of Unit at Drottning Silvia's Childrens Hospital, BNK 2016-April 2019. Currently Head of Section Intensive Care, SU/Sahlgrenska. Continuously active as unpaid associate professor and research supervisor at the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care, Institute of Clinical Sciences, Sahlgrenska Academy.
